11 Boys Rescued from Roadside Eateries in Bangalore

View ArticleBANGALORE: Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) along with the help of district administration and the labour department rescued 11 boys found working on the roadside eateries especially at the chat stalls near Coles Park on Wednesday morning.
The authorities swung into action after being alerted by International Justice Mission (IJM), an global human rights organization.
The boys hailed from Koderma district in Jharkhand and most of them were found working as bonded laborers, selling Pani Puri in Coles Park.
The boys, between the ages of 12-20 years were employed by two businessmen, both brothers from Jharkhand.
The two businessmen owned several Pani Puri and chaats outlets around Coles Park and the rescued boys were providing cheap labour to support their enterprise.
The boys were recruited from Jharkhand after their parents were paid a small advance and then escorted to Bangalore. Once here, the boys were subjected to 10-12 hours of work.
The boys on being rescued were brought to Bharathi Nagar police station for further inquiry.
