ATEST National Call on Business Transparency Legislation
Major multi-national businesses have an enormous role to play in ending human trafficking and modern-day slavery around the world and here in the United States. H.R. 2759, the “Business Transparency on Trafficking and Slavery Act,” a bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. Maloney (D-NY) in the U.S. House of Representatives, would require businesses to disclose what steps, if any, they are taking to eliminate these human rights abuses within their supply chains, labor recruitment practices, and use of goods and services.
The Alliance to End Slavery and Trafficking (ATEST) and Christian Brothers Investment Services, Inc. – a socially responsible investment (SRI) firm – held a national call today to discuss how transparency laws can be good for business, good for consumers, and ultimately have a real impact in ending human trafficking.
